Langkawi Sky Cab Cable Car - Malaysia with Kids
Langkawi Cable Car, also known as Langkawi SkyCab, is located on the Southwest coast of the island, which is approximately 15 minutes drive from the airport and 45 minutes from The Andaman Resort.
It is the number ONE attraction in Langkawi and also THE ONLY thing that managed to entice our family to step out of the comforts of our luxurious resort!
And what can I say... my little one has an obsession with all things cable car.
The entrance to the cable car station is at the Oriental Village, located at the foothill of Machinchang mountain. This is where the ticket counter is located, as well as a few other attractions, some restaurants and food courts, and small shops.
I have no idea why the little one was so engrossed studying the menu! :P
We bought the basic package of RM55 per person, which includes SkyCab, SkyDome, SkyRex and 3D Art museum.
SkyDome offers a 10-minute showcase of 360 degrees of 3D image projections in a dome.
SkyRex is a 5-minute journey on a tram simulator featuring dinosaurs.
Both of them were average and forgettable, but the 3D Art museum turned out to be a lot of fun for the kids. It features hundreds of 3D interactive paintings, which allows visitors to become the subject of the artwork on display.
BUT the highlight here has to be the SKY CAB.
The cable car ride will bring you all the way up to more than 700m above sea level. The journey covers a total distance of 2.2km linking the Base Station to the Top Station at the mountain summit of Gunung Machinchang.
I have had my fair share of cable car rides, having followed the little one on countless rides, but I have to say the Langkawi Cable Car ride is THE MOST thrilling.
The ride up was incredibly steep! I felt a little queasy and my legs went wobbly as we went higher and higher up, much to the kids' amusement.
We got off the cable car at the Top Station to admire the magnificent views. And it definitely felt great to be on solid ground for a change!
At the Top Station, you could either walk around and enjoy the views or explore further via the curved suspension bridge known as the SkyBridge. We decided not to go on the bridge as I wasn't sure if the little one could walk that far.
After exploring the Top Station, then head back down via the SkyCab for another 20-30 minutes ride back to Oriental Village.
All in all, this is one attraction not to be missed whilst in Langkawi. It was thrilling, exciting and lots of fun - definitely worth a trip there!

There are a few restaurants serving local and international food, but we chose to eat at the food court as we wanted to have a quick meal. Fortunately, the food served here was freshly-cooked, delicious and good value.

If you have been to Trick Eye Museums in other countries, like Singapore, this is basically a similar experience.
I told the little one to pose... And this is what I got :P |
