Christmas Decorating Ideas and Pictures 2017 - Red and Gold

Image
Our theme for this Christmas is RED AND GOLD. I'm not such a big fan of red, but the kids have been asking me to do red for years... And I figured it is such a classic colour associated with Christmas that I just had to oblige.  I didn't want to do a full-on red so I added some gold decorations from previous years .  The highlight is always the Christmas tree - placed right in front of our front door.  I love setting up the tree... taking my time adding layer by layer and looking at how it slowly comes together.  I always start with the big items like ribbons, flowers, twigs and branches, then the kids would end off with the balls in various sizes.  The gold star topper is from many years back. Unfortunately I couldn't find any large red topper that I liked so I had to make do with what I have.  This butterfly has been making an appearance year after year. I just love it!  All lighted up and so sparkly at

Langkawi - The Andaman Resort - Family Friendly Holiday

Image
Langkawi is a family-friendly destination, featuring wild jungles and pristine white sand, located off the coast of Malaysian Borneo. It offers just the right balance of adventure and relaxation, set against the most idyllic backdrop. We stayed at The Andaman Resort , which is cosily tucked away between a 10 million year old rainforest and fringing coral reef at the tranquil Datai Bay. The Datai Bay is rated as one of National Geographic's top 10 beaches in the world, and I can see why..... The beach has the softest clean white sand, clear blue waters and breath-taking views. Our Executive Pool Suite was clean, comfortable and massive. A king bed on one side, and separated by double doors was a large sofa bed that managed to fit 2 of my boys. BUT the biggest bonus of the room has to be our own private PLUNGE POOL! The boys never got tired of jumping and playing in the pool. When it rained one afternoon, we simply pulled down the shutters and pl

Leek and Lentils Soup Vegetarian recipe

Image
I have been cooking with lentils a lot lately. They are so incredibly delicious, nutritious, healthy and filling. They are also quick and simple to prepare. I am obsessed. This leek and lentils soup has become another one of my family's favourite. Not only does it taste so good, it is also ridiculously healthy! Leek, lentils, onions, and loads of flavourful spices. It is very thick and creamy, more like a stew, and very hearty on its own. The addition of vinegar at the end of cooking gives this soup a lovely tartness that brings out the rest of the flavours of the soup. Serve with some roti prata or naan, and you have a perfect vegetarian dinner. Full of proteins, fiber and cozy flavours. Leek and Lentils Soup Ingredients: 100g green lentils - washed and drained 1 onion - chopped 4 garlic - minced 3 leeks, white parts only - chopped 3 celery - chopped 2 carrots - chopped 2 tbsp. butter 1 tsp salt 1 tsp black pepper 1 tsp ground cumin 1 tsp grou
