Travelling to Malaysia - Kuala Lumpur with Kids - Berjaya Times Square

Kuala Lumpur is a great option to bring the kids for a holiday without breaking the bank. And the best thing is we don't even have to take the plane! No hassle of waiting around in the airports, and then entertaining and keeping the kids quiet in cramped airplane seats!!

Even though driving to KL takes about 5 hours barring traffic, the route itself is pretty straightforward and you can have stop-overs along the way to break up the journey.

To avoid the long queue at the checkpoint, we left EARLY. We set off at 6.30 on a Friday morning and the checkpoint was a breeze. We hardly encountered any traffic and we reached our hotel by 11.30am.

We stayed at the PARKROYAL Kuala Lumpur as we wanted to be in the Bukit Bintang area, where food, shopping, and entertainment are easily accessible.

The location of ParkRoyal can't be beaten. It is directly opposite Sungei Wang Plaza, a mall for bargain shopping and cheap eats. It is also about 8-minutes walk to Berjaya Times Square where there is MORE shopping, dining and lots of entertainment.

If you are looking for more upscale stuff, Pavilion Mall is only 15 minutes away in the opposite direction.

We got the Family Suite, which was huge! A large and comfortable king size bed on one side and two single beds on the other side of the room - perfect for our family of 5.

BERJAYA TIMES SQUARE is our first stop for the day. It is a massive building, which consists of a shopping mall with hundreds of retail shops, food outlets, entertainment centres, cinemas, a hotel and apartments.

We could easily spend the whole day there as there is something for everyone.

The kids were most excited about the entertainment centre on the FIFTH floor.

We started with a few games of bowling at Ampang Superbowl.

Priced at RM8 per game, shoe rental at RM3.50. A lot of lanes available so there's no need to queue and wait around. No frills bowling alleys, but at that kind of prices I say it is a steal for tonnes of fun!

Followed by Stars Archery. It was great fun and definitely worth a try. The staff was friendly and helpful in giving us tips before we began.

Even the little one got to try shooting a few arrows!

There is also a huge indoor amusement park, with the usual theme park rides and activities, and even a roller coaster! We didn't go in as we didn't have enough time and the little one wouldn't be able to go on most of the rides anyway... so perhaps next time then.

The boys then had their hair cuts - done by stylish cool dudes in chic saloon! Incredibly cheap compared to Singapore prices.

While I did my mani-pedi. Bliss! 😁

And then followed by SHOPPING!

Lots and lots of clothes, accessories and shoes at bargain prices.

A few toys shops for the little one too.

Plenty of food to choose from at the Basement.

The boys always ask for Nando's whenever we are in Malaysia. They are at every corner in KL -  convenient, fuss-free and reasonably priced.

Dragon chain restaurant is another must have in Malaysia for some comforting Chinese food.

There's also Japanese, Thai, Vietnamese, Malay, Western restaurants... Although there are lots of dining options to choose from, we much preferred the vibes and selections at Pavilion Mall.

In Berjaya Times Square, we were most excited about the dessert options!!

My boys simply loved this "fried" ice cream.

Watching the process of making it is just as much fun as devouring it!

While hubby and I just couldn't resist some Hokkaido Cheese Tarts.

And my favourite ice cream!

And Llaollao.

All caution out the window and we were treating ourselves with a daily dose of ice cream, plus all sorts of unhealthy snacks and food while we were in KL. Definitely gained a few kilos when we got back! But what's a holiday without indulging in some guilty pleasures, right... 😁

Check out my post on Day 2 of KL coming up!
