Taiwan - Where to stay in Taipei - Le Meridien Hotel at Xinyi district

Le Meridien Hotel is located at the new shopping and commercial district of Xinyi.

Xinyi is home to the famous Taipei 101, as well as many entertainment, shopping, and dining complexes. Most notable are the flagship Eslite Bookstore and Shin Kong Mitsukoshi Department Store.

Taipei City Hall MRT station is about 7 minutes walk, making it very convenient to get around.

Being so close to Taipei 101, we got a great view from the bedroom window.

The room is spacious and clean, with large and incredibly comfortable bed and pillows.

Comes with a Nespresso machine - so useful when we are far from home!

A special mention has to be given to the incredible shower room and separate toilet.

Forget about rain showers, this shower has water jets shooting from the sides! What a nice luxury.

The separate toilet is amusingly high-tech!

When I enter the toilet, the seat lifts up automatically and it flushes and closes when I go off. OMG! I definitely can get used to that. Lol. It comes with all sorts of washing and drying functions, and the seat is HEATED - such a welcome in the cold weather!

The housekeeping was fantastic. They were clean and very fast. When I came back from breakfast at 10am, the room had already been cleaned and all amenities replenished! Talk about efficient :)

Most of the staff I encountered were generally polite, always ready to greet with a smile and willing to help.

The breakfast was wonderful. A wide spread with the usual hotel-style buffet of sausages, eggs, bacon, potatoes, bread, pastries, cereals, salad and fruits.

I particularly enjoyed the Asian corner with the delicious minced pork rice - a Taiwanese specialty. There are also noodles and porridge stations and other hot food but I didn't try them.

I can never resist sweet pastries and these didn't disappoint.

And I can do with Haagen-Dazs ice cream for breakfast, lunch and dinner. 😋  It seems to be the norm to serve ice cream at every meal in Taipei.

Having been eating non stop in Taipei, I really needed to work it off in the gym. I was glad to find that the gym was large and well-equipped.

It is open from 6am to 11pm.

There is also an indoor heated swimming pool but I didn't have time to check it out.

All in all, Le Meridien Hotel is a terrific option. The location, room quality, service staff, breakfast buffet and hotel facilities cannot be faulted.

I highly recommend this hotel.
