Sinar Eco Resort Johor - Farm Stay with Kids near Singapore

In my quest to get the kids more acquainted with nature, we went for a farm stay in Johor.

Nestled in the quiet tranquility of an oil palm estate, Sinar Eco Resort provides the perfect atmosphere to wind down and get away from the hustle and bustle of city life.

Not only is the resort full of farm animals, there are also plenty of family-friendly activities, and fantastic accommodation as well!

Sinar Eco Resort at Pekan Nanas is conveniently located within 40 minutes from Singapore Tuas Checkpoint.

Getting to the resort was not a problem at all. We just plotted Pekan Nanas city centre in the GPS, and once there, there are lots of signs showing the directions to the resort.

The whole booking process is simple and straightforward. I did it through WhatsApp and the person I spoke to (Devaa) was helpful and quick to reply.

The apartment room we got was great for our family of 5. The room was spacious, with 2 queen beds, clean and fully air-conditioned. Bathroom was sufficiently large with warm water and rain shower.

It was wonderful to retreat into our clean room after a whole day of sweaty, muddy activities.

There is a shared living room just outside our room where we watched movies and played board games well into the night.

But who would want to stay in the room when all the fun and adventure await OUTSIDE!

My little son had been eyeing this tractor ever since we checked in and was absolutely thrilled to get on it.

One staff was assigned to bring us around in the tractor (no less!) and explore what the resort had to offer. He was very helpful in arranging all the activities to squeeze into our day.

With a bag of animal feeds, the 3 boys had a ball feeding and playing with the animals.

First up was the chicken, geese and ducks.

My second son was a total animal lover and had no qualm in getting up close with every single animal, including the foal that came out to play.

The boys also got to feed the calves and milk the cows.

But the boys' favourite had to be the CATS!

Feeding and playing with the cats completely reignited their desires to have a pet. I can't even tell you how many times they asked if they could adopt one!

Besides the animals, there are other activities to try out as well.

Like, riding the ATV!

The boys (and dad) got to take the ATV out for a spin round the dirt track. Incredibly fun, I was told!

But I was more inclined to something less adrenalin-pumping.

Like sitting back in the kayak and enjoying the gentle breeze while my son paddled along the river. :P

There is also river rafting and archery which we didn't try out.

If all of these is not enough, you can also borrow a bike to go around the resort.

And not forgetting, jumping into the sheltered swimming pool to cool down.

Come evening time, we opted for the BBQ dinner by the poolside.

The fried rice was home-cooked and incredibly tasty.

Freshly made BBQ chicken wings, chicken satay, sausages, sweet potatoes, fish balls.

Although the food may not be the best we've had, the experience was worth it! Eating by the poolside in the cool weather, surrounded by nature and animals as the sun set behind us.

After the kids finished their meal, they went around playing with the cats while hubby and I enjoyed sitting by the poolside drinking ice cold beer. :P

A special mention has to go for the next day's breakfast of nasi lemak, which was delicious! The chilli was authentic and so fragrant.

With full tummies, we went round the resort one last time. Took the tractor, fed more animals, played with the cats, rode the horse....

As expected, the boys thoroughly enjoyed the fun-filled 2 days adventure at the resort and were reluctant to leave.

This farm stay was truly enjoyable for the whole family. But the best thing about Sinar Eco Resort had to be the staff. Every single one of them was friendly, helpful and tried to please. It made the whole experience that much more pleasant and memorable.

Being in a farm, I was worried about the level of cleanliness and insects problem that are to be expected. However I was pleased that the resort made extra effort in maintaining cleanliness and keeping the mozzies away by burning coils under tables, by the pool side and all around the living quarters. Although of course, we still sprayed ourselves with enough insect repellents.

It is also a great idea that no footwear is allowed within the living and dining areas as we got dirty and muddy after being out in the farm. All in all, I found the resort to be generally clean especially considering that we were in a farm!

As we were driving out of the resort, we saw a farmer at a banana plantation. We approached and asked if he would be willing to sell the bananas. Which he happily did.

We got that whole bunch of bananas for RM15 only! Less than SG$5! 😛

The durians we got from a road side stall near the farm. RM100 for 4 of them and they tasted fantastic!

What a great haul and a wonderful ending to our adventure :P
