Kids Craft - Photo Frames Painting
We went to Art Friend at the end of term looking for something that the boys can create over the holidays. They finally decided on some wooden photo frames and acrylic paints. I think they are great and simple enough for starters.
The older boy didn't want any help from me. He went straight at it with enthusiasm. The younger brother was quite clueless what type of design he wanted so we looked through the Internet for some inspirations.
They both had lots of fun mixing colours and making just the right shade they wanted. I guess part of the fun in painting is mixing and blending colours, so it was good that we only started with 3 basic paints - red, blue and yellow.
Here's their art work after the first day. We have to let them dry before getting to the second layer.
I know the older boy was slightly disappointed with how his turned out. He's usually quite a perfectionist and his frame was kinda messy 😟
After a few days break, we decided to work on the frames again. The older boy searched through the Internet for some ideas on how to improve his frame. He saw that you could put some strategically placed tapes on it and paint over so that when you remove the tapes, there will be interesting colours and pattern.
After sticking the tapes, he painted the whole thing light green.
He kept coming back to check if it was dry so he could peel off the tapes.
After a few hours.... Ta-Daa!
I think it turned out really cool! It sure is a major improvement to what it was before. 😉
Now they are both happy with their artwork.
